When I heard I took first place in the tea processing competition, my mind was actually wandering, thinking about making Jin Xuan (TTES No. 12) the next day. I honestly thought I misheard, or that there had been some beautiful mistake in the vote counting! 😂

To be completely honest, 90% of this championship goes to my mentors, 福哥 and 廖師傅! The techniques and experience they’ve passed down are practically hardwired into my muscle memory now. In those crucial moments of withering萎凋 and tossing攪拌, my hands just instinctively etched every detail they taught me right into the texture of the leaves. It wasn‘t anything fancy, I just pushed the fundamentals they drilled into me to the absolute limit!

As for the remaining 10%, that was just pure, unadulterated luck. I guess during the competition, the beautiful breeze and lovely humidity just decided to play favorites with my batch of leaves, striking some kind of magical, perfect compromise!
A huge thank you to my two masters for their tireless guidance, and to Lady Luck for her blind favor. I’m going to keep learning and pushing forward. On this journey of tea making, there’s always something new to learn, and always a result that can still take your breath away!

畝士的腦袋不知道為什麼
自然就蹦出「白駒過隙」這句成語
這句成語出自莊子·知北遊裡
述說著人活在天地宇宙之間
短暫轉瞬即逝的生命
就好比站在一扇斑駁又帶著裂縫的木門後
不經意地從裂縫之中向外望
剛好有一匹白馬從門外飛奔而過
也只能在縫隙中瞥見一瞬的白影
倏忽即逝

當然，在老莊哲學中
多少帶有一種「看透世事」的超然感
這種古人的極致誇飾法
確實容易讓人覺得有些沉重或誇張
不過，短短一句「白駒過隙」
在還沒有攝影與特效的當時
真的極具視覺衝擊
以現代人的體感來說
文學上的「誇飾」，相當富有想象畫面的魅力

可能因為剛好今年是馬年
所以畝士才想到這句成語
不免俗的也必須要來感謝與展望一下

願我們在新的一年
能單純地把日子細細的過成一句雋永的逗號
並且擁有駿馬般的從容步態
輕巧跨越生活裡的陡坡
